Toledo has been the city chosen as the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2016, compared to the candidacy of Huelva. Its combination of heritage, culture and gastronomy has been the reason for its choice for 2016, the year in which the 30th anniversary of the declaration of the World Heritage City and the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes are also celebrated. Some of the most outstanding dishes in the area are the stew, the stew, the porridge, the stewed partridge, the cod or the convent sweets. In addition, the city, which will take over from Cáceres, current capital of Gastronomy 2015, has chefs as prestigious as Adolfo Muñoz, from the “Adolfo” restaurant, Pepe Rodríguez, from “El Bohío”, Iván Cerdeño, from “El Carmen de Montesión” and José Carlos Fuentes, from Hotel Valdepalacios, among other kitchen professionals.
